An awesome race
Hey everybody, quick update. Did the first triathlon of the year today, awesome race! The Bartlett Lake Triathlon put on by Tri Family Racing was by far the toughest Olympic distance event I've ever competed in. Swam hard with a friend of mine named Scott Davis, we switched lead a few times until the swim exit where I outsprinted him to the shore.
Onto the bike, I got on my new Cervelo P4 (just did my first ride on it yesterday, 90 miles) and enjoyed the incredible stiffness of this machine as I climbed for first five miles. Bikes are just getting amazing these days and the P4 is leading the way in my opinion! (Cervelo isn't a sponsor, but I'm a big fan so I bought a P4 on Friday!) I feel like this bike will carry me to fast bike splits this season but they do have a long top tube and I need to shorten the stem, after I do this I'll be golden...
After lots of climbing on the bike I had a nice lead into the run, I ran steadily over the also incredibly hilly run course to take the overall win by a good margin. Check out the results at www.Trifamilyracing.com.
It was great to get to catch up with a lot of the local triathlon people who I've missed during the off-season. Just two weeks to California 70.3, I feel like I'm close to ready!
See everyone out there,
Lewis
