Tri in Malibu then off to Philly

Just a very quick update as it's been a while since I've posted. Training has been going great this summer and I'm looking forward to the Nautica Malibu Triathlon this weekend. Lots of cool people should be out there, get there early as I've heard parking is very challenging!

Yesterday I competed in the Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach with the PF Chang's crew. We had a great time and the event was a success! I've had some "tweaks" injury-wise and a cold so I was very happy to go out and "cruise" a 1:13 in hot and humid conditions. 21st overall in a field that had 15 top pros makes me pretty happy! After the race I spent a few hours at the PF Chang's tent and ate more than one serving of chocolate cake, which is awesome recovery food!

I spent a couple weeks in August up in Montana visiting my dad and older brother. I sure wish I got up there more, what an amazing time. Due to cooler temperatures and a rainy summer everything was so green! Training in Montana is incredible and I'm hoping to spend a lot more time there over the next year.

The weekend after Malibu I'll be heading to Philadelphia for the ING Philadelphia Distance Run. I'm setting a goal to just try and break my Seattle half marathon time of 1:10. I have no idea what the course looks like or what the weather will be so I'm setting a realistic and not too far-reaching goal of 1:09. If you have experience with the Philly half feel free to e-mail me some advice, I certainly could use it!

Cheers,
Lewis
